Gameacon Coachella Valley 2026 Cosplay Contest October 17–18, 2026 | The Shops at Palm Desert

Welcome to the Gameacon Cosplay Contest—a celebration of creativity and craftsmanship! Whether you are a seasoned pro or a first-time cosplayer, this is your moment to shine.

How to Enter

To compete in the contest and access the stage area, you must have a valid Gaming Zone & Cosplay ticket. Register in person at the ASTRO booth on the day you wish to compete.

Entry Requirement: A Gaming Zone & Cosplay ticket is required for all contestants. Sign Up: Separate contests are held each day. Sign-ups close one hour before the contest starts. Prejudging: You will receive a specific time slot to meet the judges and discuss your craftsmanship. Door Prize: Every ticket holder receives a door prize just for joining the fun!

Competition Categories

Judges will place you in a category based on your experience during prejudging.

Beginner: New competitors or costumes that are less than 50% handmade. Advanced: Seasoned cosplayers with costumes that are at least 75% handmade or heavily modified.

All contestants are eligible for the following awards:

Best in Show (Grand Prize) Best Advanced & Best Beginner Best Craftsmanship & Best Prop Judges' Choice (x3)

Judging Process

Prejudging: A close-up inspection of your construction, sewing, and prop-making. Stage Walk: You have 60 seconds to pose and embody your character for the audience and judges.

Contest Rules

Originality: Major awards require 75% self-made construction. Commissioned costumes are welcome for performance-only judging. Family-Friendly: Costumes must be appropriate for a public mall and provide coverage equivalent to a swimsuit. Shoes are required. Safety: No smoke, fire, liquids, or hazardous materials. You must be able to move safely without help. Prop Policy: Strict enforcement due to our mall location. No realistic-looking props or firearms are permitted. Mall security has the final say. Check-In: You must be backstage 30 minutes before the contest begins.
